2017 The SERPENTS - A dry Sémillon from 20-year-old vines from The Bavarian Lion vineyard in Knights Valley. Grapes are hand-harvested then fermented with indigenous yeast. Aged one and a half years on its lees in Tuscan terra-cotta amphora and neutral French oak barrels. A wine for immediate enjoyment or for cellaring. Hand-dipped in beeswax. 229 cases produced.
Richness and brightness in perfect balance. Delicate floral notes - honeysuckle, orange blossom, rose water - are laced with vibrant fruit notes - lychee, cantaloupe, green almond, white peach. Mouth-filling texture lingers on the palate with remarkable length and notes of frangipane, pecorino, and lemon.
